BA at Kent Airport
BA at Kent Airport
British Airways (BA) will hold training from Manston Airport in East Kent.
Pilots will test fly B787s and A380s aircraft from the airport starting in October 2013.
British Airways will fly train pilots aboard the B787 Dreamliner and the A380s world’s largest commercial passenger aircraft between Manston to Los Angeles.
The A380 compares better than any other large aircraft as it has the lowest cost per seat and the lowest carbon emissions per passenger. The A380 most modernised features include almost 50% more floor area and 60% more headroom than the Boeing 747 and most importantly emits 50% less noise on take off.
The aircraft will be based at Manston this summer while pilots undergo flying training and cabin crew carry out familiarisation visits.
BA has show much appreciation for the extra runway space and shows the potential as Kent airports emerge slowly but so far very successfully for British airways.
Kent Airports can already serve well over a 1 million passengers per year but has a masterplan to accommodate millions more.
In addition, the airport currently handles more than 30,000 tonnes of freight a year and has the capacity to deliver 165,000 tonnes by 2018.
